Johnny Depp on Strike: 'We Need To Get Them Working'
Posted by ExtraTV Staff on January 17, 2008 8:05 AM

Johnny Depp is speaking out about the writers strike that threatens to Oscars and continues to cripple Hollywood.

"We need to get them back working," he told "Extra" at the Paris premiere of his flick, "Sweeney Todd."

In between signing autographs, the blockbuster star was all smiles in his first public appearance since "Extra's" own Dayna Devon announced he had won the Golden Globe for his role in the slasher-musical.

"I was very surprised certainly," he admitted. "Flattered. Honored!"

Now Johnny could soon have another blockbuster project lined up. His good friend and famed director Tim Burton is reportedly planning a 3-D adaptation of the children's classic "Alice in Wonderland," and it's a good bet Burton could cast Johnny.
