Depp to take over from Ledger in final film?
By WENN world entertainment news -
Director Terry Gilliam is determined to finish shooting Heath Ledger's last film The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus - with Johnny Depp in his place.
Filming on the set of the fantasy movie was allegedly abandoned following the death of the actor, who was found dead in his New York apartment on Tuesday afternoon.
But reports now claim Gilliam is keen to have the Pirates of the Caribbean star stand in for the tragic Ledger to complete the remaining scenes.
A studio source tells The Sun, "There is a point in the film when Heath falls through a magic mirror. He could change into another character after that and that is where Johnny would come in.
"It's a weird, fantasy, time-travel movie so Heath's character could easily change appearance. It would be a poignant moment.
"Johnny's not working at the moment so everyone is praying he will do it."
Ledger was said to be less than two months away from wrapping filming on the movie

"The Sun", eh? :39:
I read it was technical stuff that was left to do, not necessarily any filming; it had basically been shot.
And March/Public Enemies will be here before we know it.
I'll believe it when I see it, but I've been wrong before.
Just stating the obvious.
Always thought Heath looked a bit like a young Val Kilmer. Hmm. Time travel, yeah, whatever.
TG just has the worst luck, doesn't he??

Well the SUN is not really a good source, it is true however that Terry has one big problem on his hands...according to Christopher Plummer..
How much is left undone on the film?
Oh, there's an enormous amount left to do. This is why we were going to Vancouver. All the technical stuff, the green-screen, was to be done in Vancouver. God knows what's going to happen now.
That seems like a pretty substantial blow to the movie.
Of course it is. The film wasn't half made.... It's just terrifying. It had so much going for it, and there was so much new stuff we were all going to put into it to help it along. It was a sort of work of invention, from all hands.... And Terry [Gilliam] has had this experience before, with [The Man Who Killed] Don Quixote, with Johnny Depp.
Which famously fell apart early in the filming.

Poor Terry :(
You're so right vianne, he definitively doesn't have good luck!
Hmm, read a significantly snipped version of the CP interview, which just goes to show what editing can do.
The project is just crazy enough to make the rumor credible, and I wouldn't complain if it turns out to be true!
Poor Heath. I was hoping he'd turn up in Public Enemies.

I was thinking that if Johnny were to help Terry out I bet you he talks to the family of Heath Ledger to get their take on this. I can't imagine him jumping into this situation without considering the family's feelings no matter what Terry wishes.
It has come to my immediate attention this story is floating around. It has an original source to the infamous for crap SUN paper.
It was more than likely a name drop on Terrys part taken out of context to sell a story. I betcha that the insurance will cover what doesn't get finished.
Johnny has other pressing commitments starting in 10 weeks. And i cant see him rushing off to finish another half done Gilliam movie no matter how close they are because Terry needs a big name to hold onto the funding.
Mind you these rumours have not made it to Hollywood Reporter or the Variety pages yet, nor anything else legitimate to report. IMDB reports the movie as CANCELLED
Also... it fits in with the odd record of Terry having films get cut short in the middle. I am sorta hoping.... well I wont even say it too loudly but the man is cursed.
*swings some chickens*
So take it with a whole jar of salt... and there you have it.
