Peeking in on a nice quiet day off!
Wishing all our USA Hunnies and safe and happy 4th. We do have a pretty amazing country, warts and all...
Saw a brief bit o' Johnny last night in Runnin' Down A Dream, the Bogdanavich film about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Pretty fun flick, even if you are not diehard TP&TH fan. The scenes from the 70s brought back lots of memories of mine own wild yout'. Also saw Johnny relaxing on a boat but am not posting that pic here as it is of questionable origin. Suffice to say he is on vacation and I wish him smooth sailing.
Pricesa, love all your lovely pix and have a great vacation, AGAIN, you lucky little wench! My daughter has the same trouble you do with never quite getting unpacked. She goes back and forth from my house to her dad's and grandparents quite a bit and somehow we are always saying, when frantically searching for some critical item of clothing: "Hey, is it still in the suitcase?" Well there are worse problems for sure.
I am cooking red beans and rice today because I can. (DD would never eat them but she is not here so nananabooboo I'm doin' what I please!) Weather is cool and drippy here but not too humid so I'm good wiv it.
JJDI yes indeed, The Brave will haunt you. In a good way, but still... I have only watched it once because of that...it stuck with me for a week and I can replay whole sections of it in my mind, even now 4 years since. I think it's a masterful work, and it infuriates me that it was treated so badly by the "professional" film industry, and that Johnny was so wounded by that treatment. Hopefully some day he will say phucket and let it be released again. As fans tell him how much they love it, perhaps he will realize that distribution is a new animal these days and there is a way he could release it himself, perhaps from the Infinitum Nihil site? I am sure it is wrought with complexities but I hope some day... And also hope some day he will direct a feature for us... and include some love scenes like those in The Brave, so purely beautiful and tender.
My gospel workshop continues amazing. I got selected for the special chorale!! which will sing some songs alone (8 of us, 2 per section soprano, alto, tenor, bass) and be featured in certain parts of other songs done by the whole choir. So while the beans and rice simmer I will be plugged in to the CD and reading reading reading that music. Our concert is SUNDAY.
For the *ahem* senior wimmin amongst us: I thought I remembered that someone here is a member of a Raging Grannies singing group. No offense meant since I am of that "certain age" (over 50) myself but if you are out there PM me, I was asked to join a local chapter and would love to hear about someone's experience.
Will head over to check out the latest concert and then gotta go chop onions and sing. Pretend I'm in the studio with this guy maybe...

dram I don't want to tell you again, that is a b flat!!!

Gulp! okay Mr. Todd, I'll try...and back off with the razor, okay? I need my vocal chords.
If anyone has a screencap from the "Johnny recording ST" video clip I would sure appreciate it...
I'm gone, prolly 'til Sunday eve when I will come back with a concert report. Oh and if any of you are near Rhode Island on Sunday we are at the Xxodus Cafe at the Providence Black Rep! C'mon down!
Did I mention he inspires me? and that is GREAT to be radiation-free!
